By doing so, you make reforms.
Globally on the regional basis.
The Glaernish Group invites you to go for contemporary products such as textiles, construction materials and substitutes for plastics made of industrial hemp. They are produced consequently on the basis and principles of the circular economy. By doing so the group contributes in an active way to the capability of economies and societies to accept and tackle the enormeous global challenges by detecting the potential of natural resources in a consequently regional framework. Cultivating and processing industrial hemp by the power of well connected farmers the Glaernish Group makes these powerful resources available by covering the entire industrial value chain/s in order to turn such natural raw materials into harmless, innovative, fancy goods for consumers and industries. After any use, they will be suitable to be reused again and again or to be given back to their first and actual source, namely the earth.
Our products are not more expensive than others, since we add production costs to the final product prices. Others multiply cost factors and repeat that from one production step to the other, what makes a big difference in the pricing.

The Glaernisch Textile Cooperative in 90 Seconds
Circular industry based on industrial hemp for textiles, fashion, building materials and synthetics - fair and sustainable and above all regional. Become part of our committed development in Glarus and in other regions where the production industry may return in a new form. "They should start production now", but that is not enough. Because sufficient yields can only be achieved with marketable products. And for that the further processing plants have to be set up and equipped completely. This costs a lot of money today, but will clearly pay off in the years to come. We look forward to your participation and are glad to answer your questions on +41 79 405 69 33 |

Solidaric circular economy as input for sustainable, regional economies
The model of a solidarity-based circular economy, as we consistently pursue it for Glarus as a pilot region, offers a visionary but very real, fair, environmentally friendly form for business and society. It can be a major stimulus and a key contributor to the reactivation of the global economy after the current Corona crisis. |
Construction plans for powerful crushing plants
Based on the knowledge and experience with the pilot plant for breaking the straw and for separating and processing fibers, shives and dusts as recoverable, renewable raw materials, construction plans for replicated, reliable and efficient production lines are now being developed. They become available to the numerous inquiring regions through agreed services for engineering, construction supervision and operational support. |
About 5,400 kg of fully cottonized linen fibers ready for further processing
As a result of the dialogue with the cooperatives and the related sub-project, the 41 bales of fully cottonized linen fibers from earlier attempts arrived on March 18th. We will now be able to define and manufacture blended yarns from which a wide variety of marketable products are then created for kitchen, bathroom, bedroom, fashion and packaging. |
Enlighting, strengthening dialogue with the cooperative members
On January 20, 2020, the management committee consulted informally with around two dozen members of the cooperative on the challenges and the prospects of the cooperative. The consultations resulted in ten projects, which pave the way for the cooperative into a bright future. The projects makes the cooperative to perform the build up of the comprehensive industrial cluster for innovative textiles and building materials in a determined way. The forward-looking projects are now being consolidated in the management committee and will be proposed to the general assembly on 16th May 2020.

Two board members resigned, attempt to reorganise the straw processing.
After nervous hustle and bustle in the last days of November, the cooperative had to accept two resignations from the board of directors, and in order to calm the situation, Martin Klöti agreed with the remaining board members to find less critical solutions for the organisation of the straw processing and fiber production and therefore to protect the cooperative as a whole. |
Rieter Winterthur says that our fibre probes are basically suitable for spinning
13 Nov 2019: Two larger samples of a finer and a somewhat coarser linen fiber, which we gave to the spinning machine group Rieter Winterthur have been assessed in a positive sense. We have been requested to clean the fibres better from the loose shives and to shorten or sort out the different fiber lengths There are known processes and machines that we need to apply. |
Our hemp darning wool is now flame-retardant
FVT Faserveredelung Tönisvorst has processed our hemp fibres to be flame retardent - without the use of any salts in order to prevent corrosion through salts. This means we offer an ecological, climate-friendly darning wool made from renewable materials and out of regional production. If we had a fleece machine, also mats could be produced and offered for insulation and upholstering. |
Continuation of straw processing and fibre preparation
In December 2019 we had to move the fibre production line to Buttikon SZ into the hall of the former wood planing mill of N. Lehmann AG. We would like to thank the Lehmann family for the friendly welcome. After the power supply has been set up again and the noise protection measures are taken, operations of the refractory will resume. Apart of that we remain loyal with the region of Glarnerland. |
New production lines for Italy, Austria, Germany and South America
The tangible climate discussion, the political turn towards serious sustainability and increasingly worried questions about human and environmental health generate a strong tailwind for hemp 360˚. The demand for our processing expertise and industrial performance is increasing. Our cooperative also benefits from this with specific inquiries for own production lines and circular economy models in Northern Italy, Austria, Southern Germany and South America. |
Increasing hemp cultivation provides more and more hemp straw
The "Alpenpioniere" in the Grison part of Switzerland, the farming corporation of "Landi Freiamt", the Wylenmann family in the mountains of Zurich, Markus Deppeler in Tegerfelden, farmers in Germany close to the Swiss border and in northern Italy (Vinschgau): the harvest 2019 filled the stores with good hemp straw which is meant to be processed by our cooperative. |

Smoothly from straw to fibers and shives
We are very relieved that our mechanical fiber processing system is finally running smoothly: loading the straw in the front, removing the fibers in the back. The shives fall out along the line and are collected by a large vacuum. In this way all straw components are separated and can find their best use. (Better play video twice) |
Consistently solidaric: We are a circular economy
The Glärnisch Textil cooperative is serious about the circular economy and about the solidarity. As a result, our organisation is increasingly invited to present its model to like-minded and interested people. The Neue Zürcher Zeitung also reported on this in a special edition. |
