On a flight back from China in 2006, I began to write down my concerns about the world's economic, social and cultural upheavals in the book "2026 - Looking Back After the Oil Shock". My thoughts included the need to return to renewable raw materials and to recover regional industries and jobs that had been lost due to the departure of the production industry in Europe and throughout the West.
These rather pragmatic claims were supplemented by the strong desire to unconditionally consider ethical principles, from which great values result such as identity, security, justice, confidence, satisfaction, health and happiness.
In "2026" there is the visionary description of how the combination of tradition and innovation helps the textile industry to find its way back to Glarus. The installation of the heavy machinery for the straw and fibre processing and with the invitation of the entire Glarner valley community to found the Glärnisch Textil cooperative on November 10, 2017, the cooperative has been registered in the commercial register of the canton of Glarus on December 15, 2017. I would like to thank the members and partners, the employees and the management of the cooperative for their active contributions. We thank the people of the Glarus region for their warm welcome and ongoing attention. We do everything we can to meet the vision and the expectations of effective production and decent market services. The wave of the sympathy that we are allowed to enjoy provides the particular strength to us and the entire cooperative. Thank you very much for that! Martin Klöti, chairman |
