Lightweight Building Modules Made of Hemp Dust, Expanded Glass, Water Glas,
PLA and/or Ee-Polyol
We intend to respond to the increasing demand from clients and the construction industry for savings in concrete, time and costs by rapidly developing reliable and standardized prefabricated lightweight modules.
The reinforcement to absorb the tensile forces will be braids, fabrics and strands of long hemp fibers. The compressive forces will be absorbed by a matrix mixed from renewable and recycled materials: Hemp dust, expanded glass, water glass, re-polyol dissolved from foam recycling, PLA. With greater dimensional stability, low weight and at least the same physical properties, the elements will be superior to wood, concrete, steel and light metal in the competition. Investors in this highly topical and promising project are welcome to contact us by mail or on +41 79 405 69 33 (Martin Klöti). |
A simple decortication system to meet the urgent need for LONG fibresFor durable fashion and technical textiles (ropes, tarpaulins, decorative fabrics, sun sails, tent fabrics, luggage fabrics, ...) that meet market expectations, it is absolutely necessary to obtain the fibres of the bast fibre plants uncut in their entire length. Glaernisch Textile offers comparatively simple do-it-yourself kits for this purpose, with which stalks of hemp, flax and nettles harvested in parallel can be quickly and even manually de-wooded and high-performance long fibres can be obtained from them.

Robust clothing for work and outdoor from existing stocks of good raw materialWe are taking the first step towards fair, functional and winter-proof work and outdoor clothing made from 100% Swiss production and pure Swiss material. For this, the cooperative is pulling together fibres, fleeces, outer fabrics, sewing threads, finishing parts from existing stocks according to the principle and concept of "patchwork", setting up the other workshops in addition to textile finishing and textile printing with cutting and sewing workshops, and wants to create cool clothing under revolutionary conditions.

Textile industry set back to fair conditions
At last buy and enjoy clothes again without feeling guilty, take the productive textile industry completely back into the own region (in our case Switzerland), take full responsibility of how it all works, be a practical example of solidarity-based, ethically correct, socially just and ecologically conscious management, actively protect the climate and contribute to preserving our planet in its rich diversity, make sustainability happen, focus on regional resources and talents in seemingly abandoned peripheral regions, strengthen the production base there with economic impulses and structures, recognize the quality of such rich working and living spaces and secure them in the long term, preserve the diversity and (survivability) of natural habitats of any form and with all their native beings, ... and yet meet the contemporary, everyday demands of modern society, economy and culture, ... These are the lofty goals and great values that the Glärnisch Textil cooperative is determined to live, which make all the motivation, the obligation and finally the joy of its committed people.

Founded in November 2017, the Glärnisch Textil cooperative looks back with gratitude on an intensive period that has given it its current format, a typical face, and promising prospects.
Thanks to the broad-based trust that the cooperative enjoys in the Glarus region, in Switzerland and increasingly abroad, it may continue to grow as a vibrant company and successfully set trendy standards in close cooperation with supporting industry partners, networks, organizations and institutions. In the meantime, the cooperative is fully committed to commercial hemp and is forming itself on the basis of this renewable raw material as a processor and supplier of the corresponding semi-finished and end products, which are enjoying a strong increase in demand. Useful hemp as a renewable resource for textiles, construction and for the modern replacement of mass products such as paper, cardboard and plastics is currently on everyone's lips. However, knowledge of how hemp is grown, extracted and industrially processed is still limited. The Glärnisch Textil cooperative is very pleased to be able and allowed to carry out pioneering work in this current context. |
At the beginning of the productive value chain there are the farmers - and our "Brechete" for the extraction of fibers from hemp
The productive network for the production of textile fibers, yarns, clothes and fashionables as well as technical products is extensive, diverse, demanding and industrial. The Glärnisch Textil cooperative brings together the necessary resources and partners along the value chain and fills the many gaps that globalization has torn into the regional textile industry - with substantial investments.
The Glärnisch Textil cooperative stands for the far-reaching reactivation and networking of the tried-and-tested, textile specialists and resources in the Glarus and further region for the purpose of sustainable production of modern, contemporary consumer goods, industrial goods and semi-finished products.
Rieter Winterthur, global system provider for spinning mills, stays with us on the way to standardized yarns
The Glärnisch Textil cooperative is happy to enjoy the crucial support of spinning system provider Rieter Winterthur. Rieter helps a lot to make sure, that we tune our fiber processing system in such a way that it ultimately produces perfectly spinnable fiber material. For this purpose, the fibers are washed and crushed after breaking. Transitionally, third parties fill the gap before the cooperative can build and operate the corresponding production facilities on its own according to its objectives. When the yarns are finally available, the weaving mills that still exist in the Glarus region may go to work. And finally with actual cloth at hand, sewing studios and cloth makers complete the value chain. The cooperative intends to donate such workshops throughout the entire canton of Glarus.

Fruit and straw are harvested separately (left picture) or with a comprehensive harvester in one go (right picture). The thinner, better roasted the straw is, the better are the fibers after the "Brechete" (straw processing line i.e. the picture on the far right). All straw components are used in their best way.
March 2021: Our Machines are backMany thanks to Morewa AG and its professionals! They did a brillant job repairing our machines that burned down in October 2020. We are very happy and look forward to the test runs with the reborn machines.
Many thanks to the Mobiliar insurance company and its specialists who have generously secured our continued existence. Also we would like to thank Altra Management AG in Mitlödi from the bottom of our hearts, who spontaneously and directly provided us with dry and safe accommodation.
